The live version of Njorku comes with a job search engine solution that has been in the works for over two years today. You can search for jobs from your computer browser on www.njorku.com and also you can use your mobile and search on njorku.com/mobile. This version comes with other useful tools like daily sms alerts for jobs, daily email alerts for given keywords, a tips and tutorials blog. I must say we rolled out without some key functionalities like job search sharing (email, twitter, facebook), candidate profile and CV database which are already in development but could not be completed to meet this end of march deadline.

2. Quels sont les pays qui sont couverts par cette release ?

Currently Njorku covers job search for Cameroon and Nigeria mostly but in the next couple of weeks we will rapidly cover other countries.

3. Quels sont les pays qui vont suivre ?

We are still thinking of the countries but we have Ghana, South Africa, Senegal, Kenya on our radar but nothing is certain at this time

4. Est-ce qu’il est prévu des API ? Webservices ? franchise ?

Yes we are going to have APIs for developers worldwide to consume, to us this will be a way to let developers create cool apps around job search and make life easy for job searchers looking for jobs in Africa. Franchising is a big part of our business model too, so yes we are open for Franchising and we are already in talks with partners.

5. Etes-vous à la recherche des partenaires ?

Yes we are actively looking for partners that will help us expand into other countries faster than our normal speed. We think with local partners in every country, our job search solution will help more job seekers looking for jobs in Africa

6. What is the next step ?

Our next step right now is to develop job search tools and come up with innovative ways for people to find and share jobs making the process a fun and easy one for every job seeker looking to work in Africa

Will est un entrepreneur spécialisé dans les applications mobiles résident au Kenya il nous présente sa premiere application certifiée iScribe

Who is @wmworia?

My full names are Will Mworia. My professional background is in software development/engineering. I have 6 years of experience in IT in Kenya where I worked for several software based firms. My last employment was at Microsoft East Africa where I was a technical evangelist in the academic community. I left Microsoft and got into doing software and internet startups the first of which is African Pixel which was founded in July 2009. My passion really is in creating… I think software is as much a medium of expressing creativity as art. I happen to love design. And I am greatly bothered by the misconceptions people have of my continent, Africa so in one way or another my startups (whether directly or indirectly) tend to have something about breaking status quo mentality about Africa.

You run African Pixel, can you tell us what you’re doing there?

I am the founder of African Pixel (AP). AP is still in it’s early stages, we’re now going to 7 months of existence. At the moment I am involved in running almost everything except some one-off outsourced tasks every now and then.

You just launch an app is appstore is it difficult for an African developer to launch a certified iPhone app?

Yes. You can’t get into contractual agreements with Apple for the AppStore. In any case, even creating and using an iTunes account from Africa is also very hard. Our work around is simply having African Pixel as the development arm, and then a company in the US which can then contract with Apple to get the stuff that is developed in Africa into the AppStore.

Can you tell us about iScribe? What is it about?

iScribe is simply a tool to help people compose and share stories. iScribe brings old school journaling to the new age of mobility and the internet. Making it simple to capture life’s moments in a fun way and on the move. You don’t have to wait to get back home to record the experience. You can capture it as it happens – in text, voice, images and video! And share by email or to a blog online

More apps for Africa to come?

Definitely! At AP we are not targeting specifically African audiences exclusively, for example, iScribe is something intended for literally anyone because story telling is something intrinsically human, not just African. So more appropriately… there are more apps FOR Africa and FROM Africa to come

La Demo
